Okra is a platform exploring the (hi)stories behind design and architecture. Through editorial content, research, and participatory programs, it looks beyond the surface of objects and asks how design takes shape in everyday life. Working alongside makers, scholars, and institutions, Okra traces the ideas and processes through which things are made, used, and shared.
Issue 1: Afro-European: Okra’s first issue brings together essays, interviews, and visual projects shaped by Afro-European perspectives. Approaching objects and spaces as sites of knowledge and exchange, the contributions explore how histories of diaspora, memory, and power take material and spatial form. Across different scales, the issue reflects on how design and architecture shape the ways we inhabit the world together.
